END GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE NOW- TAKE THE PLEDGE
I pledge to love, trust and believe in Black women and girls, both cis and trans, as well as gender non-conforming people.
I pledge to seek community-based alternatives to addressing harm instead of calling the police. I understand that police interaction puts Black people at risk of increased poverty, surveillance, incarceration, beatings, rape, and even death.
I pledge to listen to survivors.
I pledge to take action to end systemic and interpersonal gender-based violence.
Safe, We Safe is a transformative movement campaign led by BYP100 to put an end to the different forms of gender violence that Black women, girls, femmes and gender non-conforming people face everyday. We are embracing a dual strategy approach, which means that we will work to both shift culture & establish new ways of keeping each other safe within our communities AND work to fight against the violence of the state, particularly the patriarchal violence of the police.
The goals of the campaign are to:
- Increase interventions to gender-based violence available to Black women, girls, gender non-conforming people, and communities that do not rely on contact with the police.
- Reallocate funding from the police to community-determined programs that address gender-based violence in Black communities.
