Earlier this fall Essex County signed a contract with ICE to detain 1,250 immigrants, at a rate of $108, per person, per day.
The Essex County Freeholders will soon vote on the subcontract which is expected to be awarded to a company known as CEC.
It is no coincidence that: CEC has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to the campaigns of Essex County politicians or that one of Christie’s close friends and allies, Bill Palatucci, is currently a Sr. VP for CEC.
Essex County must:
- Stop profiting from incarceration
- Stop detaining immigrants
- Stop treating immigrants like commodities
- Stop selling out to the 1%
