A US Department of Homeland Security report reveals that 39% of aliens detained by the I.C.E. between October 2010 and February 2011 were categorized as “non-criminal.”, 22% were charged with infractions deemed less serious than traffic violations. These detentions of harmless people are set to cost taxpayers over $10 billion a year while profiting Manhattan-based hedge fund managers and other finance industry moguls.
The United States has the highest population of prisoners in the world. The United States has only 5% of the world’s population and 23.6% of the world’s prisoners
Over the past 10 years the private prison industry’s share of the prisoner population increased 24%.
Case studies from the Considering a Private Jail, Prison or Detention Center Study done by Grassroots Leadership has confirmed that children have been abused, women have been raped, and men have died from lack of basic medical attention in facilities run by GEO and CCA.
Both CCA and GEO rely on financing and other assistance from major investors, to employ the powerful lobbying efforts in Congress and Federal agencies, as well as lobbying in state capitols across the country. These major investors include Wells Fargo, General Electric, and others.
- CCA owns or manages 46 % of the private prison space in the US.

Un reporte del Departamento de Seguridad Nacional reveló que el 39% de los inmigrantes detenidos por la Migra entre octubre 2010 y febrero 2011 fueron categorizados como “no criminales”, 22% fueron acusados por infracciones menores que una infracción de tránsito. Estas detenciones de personas no violentas nos cuestan más de $10 mil millones de impuestos al año mientras que los gerentes e inversionistas en Manhattan son los que ganan.
Los EE.UU tiene la mayor tasa de encarcelados del mundo. Los EE.UU solamente tienen 5% de la población mundial pero tiene 23.6% de los encarcelados a nivel mundial.
Durante los últimos 10 años, la industria de prisiones privadas ha aumentado a recaudar el 24% de los encarcelados.
En el estudio Considering a Private Jail, Prison or Detention Center Study hecho por la organización Grassroots Leadership, se ha confirmado que niños han sido abusados, mujeres han sido violadas y personas han muerto por falta de atención médica básica en facilidades pertenecientes a GEO y CCA.
CCA y GEO requieren financiamiento y asistencia de inversionistas grandes para poder mantener la magnitud de poder de lobby que tienen en Congreso, Agencias Federales al igual de las capitales de todos los Estados. Estos inversionistas incluyen a Wells Fargo, General Electric, entre otros.
